Education & Community
Conservation works best when it is rooted in the local community and shared through education. Everyone who passes through JTP, for an afternoon or a season, should leave with a deeper understanding of nature and a stronger connection to it.
The long-term future of conservation on Tioman depends on the strength of the Juara community. We support local initiatives that sustain livelihoods while protecting the island's natural character.
Through our partnership with Little Planet Outdoor Education, more than 1,000 students take part in our educational sessions and hands-on conservation activities every season.
Our Core Operations
Creating Future Conservation Leaders
Conservation is a long-term commitment that depends on informed, engaged people. By working with schools, universities, and thousands of students each year, we hope to inspire the next generation of scientists, educators, and environmental stewards.
Our ongoing focus includes:
Deepening our work with Juara Primary School and local youth.
Expanding university research partnerships and student placements.
Growing hands-on programmes that connect visitors with real conservation.
We are not only protecting ecosystems. We are helping build a community of people who will carry that work forward.
Our Long-Term Commitment
Whether someone joins us for a single afternoon or an extended placement, our goal is the same: to send them home with a deeper understanding of conservation and a real connection to the natural world.
At the Juara Turtle Project, education is not separate from conservation. It is how conservation lasts.
