Get Involved at JTP

Real conservation work, real skills, real impact. Whether you have a week or a whole season, there is a place for you at the Juara Turtle Project.

What sets Juara Turtle Project apart

We are not a volunteer holiday. Everyone who joins us contributes to genuine, long-running conservation work while learning from active research and restoration programmes.

Here is what makes the experience different…

Real Conservation, Not Observation

You work alongside our team on live projects: beach patrols, hatchery management, reef surveys, and restoration. Every task feeds a dataset more than two decades in the making.

Skills-Based Training

Our programmes are built around structured, hands-on learning. You leave with recognised competencies in field techniques, species identification, and data collection, not just memories.

Science You Can Trust

Our methods align with international standards like Reef Check, and our long-term monitoring supports real research, grant reporting, and conservation planning.

Rooted in Community

Living in Juara means becoming part of a small, conservation-minded village where local people, schools, and businesses work together to protect the island.

  • "I spent a month volunteering with Juara Turtle Project and wished I could’ve stayed longer! The team were so fun, it felt like a little family. I learnt so much from everyone and loved getting involved in all conservation activities. The combination of the location, the people, and the projects made this one of my favourite experiences. I will be back. 🫶"

  • "A very nice project (Save the sea turtle) run by a wonderful team. Volunteering here is so nice, even with your children (from 12 years old). We have helped a little and learn so much!"

    —Pierre-Antoine Rigout

  • "Volunteered here for a while. An amazing group of people who dedicate themselves to saving turtles. Juara beach is a nesting area for green and Hawksbill turtles. Really worth a visit if you're in Tioman."

  • "Spent an unforgettable week at JTP! It was a great opportunity to gain hands on experience in conservation work and if lucky enough, you may even witness turtle nesting and hatchlings emerging from their nests. I would love to return again in the future!"
