Helping out the Project
Remember there are many ways to help this project, and conservation efforts in general, besides directly contributing money. To run this project we use many items and for sure it is a benefit if you can donate a needed item directly, if you already have it or want to get it to us, even if it seems small it can do us a lot of good here on this island.
Other ways to help are through advertising this volunteer opportunity to friends or family, or by finding resources online or directly through volunteer/ gap-year organisers.
Business Partners- Besides funding through volunteer and group programs, having the annual support of business companies is a large help. You can support us with physical goods or with financial contributions. As you are helping and supporting a conservation/ environmental effort we will gladly provide you with material or information so you can advertise that to the public or your customers. As well we will gladly display the fact that you (company) is supporting us.
Financial donations are used for egg collection, land lease, maintenance, development, supplies, equipment, etc, and the grease to keep this effort running. Nobody here is getting paid for the work done it is all voluntary. It is hard work and the turtles do not pay us, so we need to get money somehow. We run programs so we are not beggars and we have something worthwhile to sell, but if you so feel inclined we will graciously accept your donation as well.

Another tank of petrol(25L)- RM 50 = 3 trips on our beach route, we go at least once a day
Egg collection- RM 1500 per month + RM 1 per egg found. Aprox RM 40,000 per year
Per egg cost- RM 2.5
One nest cost- aprox RM 250

Particular Items Needed
For sure these items can be second hand as long as they still work please.
Waterproof digital camera- for documentation and use in constructing informative material.
Video camera- for the same reasons above but video really helps to send the message.
Red light LED torches- for use in beach patrols as turtles are unaffected by red light.
water resistant high power torches- for night boat trips to rock infested beaches
Night vision- quite serious, for use in night hatching release to be sure our landing will not disturb nesting turtles.
Aluminium boat aprox 12'- for easy lightweight transport over shallow water reef areas and less petrol consuption.
Petrol water pump- for filling turtle tanks with salt water, must be durable to take the beating they get. The one we have is almost finished now.
Tools- Garden, construction, and mechanical. Any or all
Seeds- Fruit/ Food plant seeds, or if a really nice decorative plant we can take that too. We aim to eat as much as possible from our own land. Remember we are in the tropics.
Vest style PFD- "personal flotation device/ life jacket" for our use and for the use of our volunteers so we don't drown.
Kayaks- for beach monitoring and getting to our boat.
Camping equipment- for use on overnight beach monitoring trips and in the jungle with volunteers. Includes: tents, stoves, sleep bags, backpacks, mosi nets, hammocks.
Turtle/ Marine Information- Books, Movie's, Thesis Papers, Posters, Pamphlets, anything turtles or ocean.
Science Information- Resources on Geology, Weather, Farming, Animals, Space, anything interesting.
