2010 Round Square Conference

Round Square is an organization of International Schools from around the world. Their focus is to hands-on further students global perspectives in hopes that a greater understanding between nations can be reached in the future.

This year their annual event was hosted by United World College South East Asia in Singapore. UWCSEA has a long relationship with us already, so they programed this years Round Square trip to come participate at the Turtle Project and learn about turtle conservation, ecosystems habitat protection, hands-on projects, and environmental responsibility.

The students where great to work with and very motivating. Thank you for the help and we hope to see you all again sometime soon!

Here is a scene of the RS students taking over some of the projects daily activities of cleaning up, weeding and raking. This is done so the facility looks good and is clean to discourage bugs and pests.

This is a new garden bed created by the students. What they did was remove a large old pile of composting material, used it for a different garden and kept the base layer for this garden, now encircled by stones.

With the help of teachers, Charlie and Tom, these students are moving a huge rock using their tremendous strength (what is that RS diet?) and a nice big lever. This area is being prepared as the foundation for an earth-bag house. Don't know what that is? Look it up online or send us an email Attn: Tom what are you doing??

Here is the completed hot temperature hatchery built by the students. As opposed to the other hatchery, this one has no roof for shade. Thus the sand is warmer, giving us the ability to better mimic a given natural nesting site; either warm or cool depending where the original nest is located.
